Fairytales Do Come True

Fairytale By Christina is a children's birthday party, special event and dance class organization owned and operated by Christina Snuffin. The company has been operating since April 2014. She says, “I have been teaching children's dance classes, camps and intensives for 15 years. After completing my undergraduate degree, I taught children's dance for a studio in Northern Virginia that offered the particular program I have emulated; dance classes that are based around favorite fairytales, dress-up and imaginative play.”

Snuffin holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Arts Management with a concentration in Dance from the Conservatory of Shenandoah University, in Winchester, Virginia, and a Master of Science degree in Kinesiology with a focus in Campus Recreation Leadership from James Madison University, in Harrisonburg, Virginia.

After moving to Florida in 2011, Snuffin taught at the Broadway Lights Dance Center, in Gulf Breeze. “The studio owners allowed me to recreate the type of dance classes that were offered by my former studio, and encouraged my development of Fairytale By Christina,” she relates. “About two years ago, I realized that while there were companies in the local area that offered visits from a princess of choice for special events and children's birthday parties, the delivery fell flat in actually offering facilitated activities upon the princess' arrival. I decided the obvious solution was to offer birthday parties and special events that not only allowed children to enjoy time with their favorite princess, but also had educational value by teaching dance and imaginative play.”

Fairytale By Christina offers a unique method of encouraging children to unplug, without the stimulation of the technology by which they are so often surrounded. Dance offers an excellent discipline in physical activity, but Fairytale By Christina adds an additional layer of imaginative play and creative thinking that expands the mind, as well as the body.

Fairytale By Christina's classes, parties and events incorporate children's favorite stories by reading the fairytale of choice and providing dress-up and props from each signature story. Cinderella's glass slippers, Rapunzel's paint brushes and everyone's favorite, Snow White’s cape and gloves, are just a few of the stories and props available to the children participating. They reenact the story with the clothing and other items to themed music, all while incorporating beginning ballet technique and creative movement.

Fairytale By Christina not only teaches dance and hosts birthday parties and special events, but also encourages innovative thinking, creative personal expression and physical discipline through the art of dance. Fairytale By Christina classes, parties and special events are most suitable for children ages 2 to 10.

Snuffin thinks that children should be encouraged to explore the world of make-believe. “Imaginative play is an incredibly important stage of development that all children and parents should embrace. Encouraging the use of imagination at a young age facilitates a child's development of a creative mind throughout adolescence and adulthood,” says Snuffin. “It may start with princess play, but I believe this type of imaginative exploration develops young minds into adults who have the capability to change the world through innovative thinking.”

Fairytale By Christina offers weekly dance classes at Broadway Lights Dance Center, in Gulf Breeze/Midway, Pure Pilates, in Gulf Breeze Proper, and Urban Deshi, in Pensacola. Birthday parties are available in multiple package options, with the choice to utilize space at Broadway Lights Dance Center or to have the princess of choice come to the child's home or specific event venue. Snuffin eventually hopes to open a dance studio specifically designed to facilitate the unique program and activities she offers, expanding into the Pensacola area over the next few years.
