Gulf Breeze Zoo Offers Animal Yoga
The zoo began Yoga with the Animals in May as a way to give the staff an opportunity to attend a yoga class, but it has since received a very positive response from the community, as well.
Cara Gaddy leads practices at 6 p.m., Wednesday nights, at locations throughout the zoo. She has stretched with the giraffe, done kickbacks with the kangaroo, held a tree pose while the bears forage and on several occasions been interrupted by peacocks as they race through the group.
"Practicing yoga outside, surrounded by local and exotic wildlife, does something for the soul that practicing in a studio can't," says Kayte Wanko, zoo director. All classes are beginner-friendly.
